Good Boy: 8 Brisbane Songs
“This is just a glimpse into what our hometown has to offer,” says Brisbane rock three-piece Good Boy, who are now based in Fortitude Valley, after growing up in Queensland’s rum capital Bundaberg. The band pay tribute to their new home on ‘Majic Country’ – the final track on debut EP Shirk Life – so it seems fitting that they’ve selected eight songs that represent their “favourite Brisbane artists, past and present”.
I caught these guys at the Foundry for their EP launch and this song blew me away. Charles shreds the hell out of these solos.
An absolute Brisbane classic. More people should know about this band.
‘Streets Of Your Town’
This was an obvious choice for this list. We’ve always wanted to cover this song.
‘Once In A While’
Listen to every song this band has. This particular song is pretty deep into their discography but it’s a friggin’ banger. (Ali, if you’re reading this, we still want to come and hangout at the farm.)
‘Stuck in a Turnstile’
This track is very Parquet Courts and we love it.
Clea has one of the most incredible voices I’ve ever heard. Get to a show and witness this band live.
This song is awesome but so is the entire album. Give it a listen.
A Brisbane playlist isn’t complete without a little Powderfinger. We were lucky enough to see them reform for a few songs at Splendour 2017.
